Need a POP at your Olympics soiree?

I'm a culprit of Olympic fever, cheering on some of my favorites like Chad Hedrick and Noelle Pikus-Pace. As I stare at the TV watching the athletes in Vancouver, the inspiring tales of conquering adversity, winning a medal for the "family," and taking a second chance only continue to inspire me in my own quest to complete a half-marathon (countdown is now at 3 week til' "go" time) and take pride in my fellow peers and country as they go for their own dreams.

And if you're looking to celebrate the Games with a little fun, there is no better way to do so than with Pommery POP's "America" Champagne. This genuine AOC Champagne dons the red, white and blue, and its playful stars and stripes add just the right amount of patriotic flare to any Olympic celebration or soiree you may be hosting.

Unlike, traditional Pommery Brut (a fav of mine, you know), this champagne has a slightly sweeter taste and bit less fizz, making it easy to sip with almost any accompanying appetizers!

And when you're done with the bottle, use it for additional decor! Simply display split-size sparklers in a large ice bucket and place them on a table as a festive centerpieces... our flag is right in the bottle! U-S-A, U-S-A!!!

Cost: $14.99

Eye Kandy to Lip Kandy

You know me, I'm a firm believer of drinking in style! And for many, that could mean a variety of things - being surrounded by favorite friends, uncorking that "once-in-a-lifetime" bottle, or simply (and sassily) drinking from unique stemware.

I recently discovered Eye Kandy Glasses, a small at-home company based in Florida where Artist Kimberly Cass produces custom designs, monograms, names and dates on glassware. The best part? She can customize anything you desire. Pick the colors, the theme, the images and copy you want painted on. Its the perfect, personalized option for helping keep memories fresh and robust, like a bold glass of Cabernet. The second best part? The glasses are extra large, 20 ounces to be exact, making them a perfect "one-stop" drink for any party you may be
attending.

Here are a few ideas we suggest:
  • Paint the bottom of the stemware a solid color, and brightly include the recipient (or your own) name atop. These are a great option for avoiding wine charms that sometimes fall off and leave their owner guessing which glass they sipped from. No one wants anyone elses backwash!
  • As a Bridal Shower favor, create a themed glass using your chosen wedding colors. Include a painted monogram initial on the front and provide to your bridesmaids. Follow the same concept for Bachelorette parties, but include a fun cocktail recipe on the bottom of the glass!
  • For sassy girls, create a themed glass based on their favorite activity. It could be shopping, talking, playing sports, or simply beveraging (like me!) Spruce it up with some added flare, like boa strips or charms.
Now, I think I need to go order myself a glass that says "Lil' Miss WinoBee!"

Cost: $12.50 per glass (regular) or $13.50 (custom)
*discounted prices may vary if ordered in a set

'04 La Noble Merlot

Everyone needs a good screw... cap that is (get your mind outta the gutter!). This screw cap red is a Vin de Pays ("country wine") from France and offers great flavor at a stunning value. That's right, for just $10 (or under) you'll get a stunning ruby colored, medium bodied mix of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, crammed with decadent cherry flavor. Best news, you can sip it now or 2-3 years down the road. And who said money couldn't go a long way?

Where to Buy: International Cellar
Cost: $10/bottle
